Girl meets dress... the fashionistas answer to recession proof style.

"Buy dress, wear dress, get drunk, spill drink on dress, damn can't return dress, wasted £80 on dress, shit friend tagged me in photo in dress, definetly can never wear dress... EVER AGAIN!". This ladies and women is the routine I follow pretty much every week, costing me hundreds of pounds monthly, as I tirelessly aim to impress my peers with my flourishing fashion triumphs. The stunning dress, the eye-wateringly high platform heels teamed with the jaw-droppingly gorgeous clutch, yes this is the aim of the game but this is definetly a game which comes with a credit crunching price tag. Im tired of wearing a dress once, ruining it (so no chance of an exchange, let alone a return), being tagged in facebook photos, which puts the visible stamp on the fact that this dress will never be worn again and more importantly getting bored of the sight of it after 2 weeks.

The impossible situation with an impossible solution it seems, well now thats where I have been going wrong all this time as the solution is now apparent girls and it comes in the form of GirlMeetsDress.com. Yes here we have it all you fashion concious girls, the answer to our prayers and the reason why we can all leave the house in a Marchesca creation without breaking a sweat, or the bank. The idea behind this is we rent the dress for a week or month for something amazingly ridiculous as 10% of its retail price and return it (in lovely condition) once were done. The slogan "Borrow, party.. return"! Easy, simple and above all the smartest move you will ever make. Some of you may feel cheap doing this and ultimately a bad friend (no more lending dresses as they wont be in your wardrobe for long) but think about the bigger picture. You would only ever wear the dress once anyway and i'd sooner wear an £800 dress once for my special occasions and look fabulous for a fraction of the price, than justify spending £100 on a dress im only going to hand down to someone less appreciative of the bank-ache it caused.

Im not suggesting you rent a dress every week (although the offer is very tempting), but meerly for those wonderful occasions when you want to look more than fabulous. So follow the footsteps of celebs such as Keira Knightley and the Sugababes and rent not just a dress but your bag and accessories to. This ladies, is the clever thinking, fashion loving and above all pocket friendly answer to your buzzing social calendar.

Polyvore the ultimate fashion whore and the number one source for that perfect outfit..

"My very own 'set' above"

Polyvore is a fashion whore? Translation= it has its legs wrapped around every inch of fashion we love and adore across the globe. It is the holy grail of fashion finds and gives every girl the chance to be a stylist. So how does this website work you ask? Well it isn't your typical online fashion store like all the other because you don't actually buy clothes from Polyvore.com. How it works is it shows items from every designer, highstreet and ethical clothing brand more or less in the whole world and gives us the opportunity to create a "set" (an outfit to you and me) from the millions of accessories and clothes it holds in its online fashion cupboard.

"Polyvore's easy-to-use virtual styling tool lets people mix and match products from any online store to create their own fashion collections called "sets". The Polyvore community consists of trendsetters, shoppers and aspiring stylists, who create more than 30,000 sets daily and spend an average of 10 minutes on the site per visit. With over 6 million unique visitors and 140 million pageviews per month, Polyvore is the largest fashion community site in the world." Said by the geniuses themselves.

Its every dream stylists heaven and also the bible I follow any time Im looking for the perfect outfit for my nights out. In a couple of clicks I can search for any specifics I need for example a dress under £100 in fuschia pink and then search for my accessories to get in tow. You also have the opporunity to showcase your stylist skills and create sets for certain celebrities like Kim Kardashian or Taylor Momsen and have them rated by your fashion loving peers. Its every girls dream and also an inspiration for many future outfits you might wear (it gave me the chance to create an outfit using clogs, which I was originally apprehensive about, but they proved to work effortlessly thanks to polyvore), or might not have ever had the chance to try.

So unleash your inner stylist, unlock your love of fashion and shop until you can't click any more as Polyvore.com has just changed the face of fashion, and the faces that follow it..

ASOS AFRICA- The beginning of ethical highstreet fashion?

A risk for asos, a life saved in africa.. The ASOS africa collection brings fashion, ethics and responsibility to the forefront as we face the struggles of everyday life in this economic climate. We moan about the rising price of a bottle of evian, they pray everyday for the chance to drink clean water. We moan about the pollution we deal with in our big city that is LDN, they choke on bomb fumes and the toxic eye-watering smoke that is felt after a gun shot is fired at them in they're town centres. The fact we moan full-stop means we need to wake up, Sharpish! So here we have a online-fashion phenomenon that is ASOS opening our eyes to what the real big picture is, because despite the fact we are in an apparent "recession" the profits of companies like ASOS are still rising. This proves on thing, fashion will never die and so with that mantra, our favourite online fashion store has given us what we want and most importantly, them what they need.

All garments are handmade by local groups in different regions of Africa and the prints are ethnically understated but still excitingly tribal. All hail the africa collection which captures the African prints we all know and love without making us feel like were trying to hard to follow the print trend. So pick yours up now if you know whats good for others, as while we may think we are being hard-done by when we swing through the supermarket, think of having to rummage through your neighbours garden for the sheer sight of something edible. Exactly... size 12 please !!

So go to to your nearest MAC counter from the 1st of April and bag yourself a handful of this Limited edition collection... oh and while your there please pay attention to the new VIVAGLAM collection too.
